Must Have Items When You Work From Home

1) Second Monitor

A second monitor is a great way to be more productive and get more done. (Or watch netflix when working on your latest project.) Instead of scrambling through a million windows trying to get where you need, simply drag and drop windows from one screen to the other while keeping your workspace clean and organized. You won't believe how much easier it is to work online when you have a second (or in my case a third) monitor.

I personally use one screen for emails and notifications from clients (they come in by the bunches many times). Then my main screen is where I do my work. In my case I have this screen open for dreamweaver where I can program or work on projects. My third screen is where I usually have the internet open for fast access. Sometimes I need to test something I am working on. Other times I need to do some research or open some kind of online tool. Of course this screen is also for Netflix when work is light.

2) A Trackball Mouse

If you are working on a laptop you may not have a mouse, and you should. Or you have standard mouse where you have to slide your hand across the desk to do the things you need to.

A trackball mouse lets you navigate only using your thumb. While it sounds complicated to learn, it usually takes just a few minutes to get used to. Not only that it allows you to work on non-flat surfaces. Perhaps you want to work in bed or on a couch. The trackball mouse will let you do that. Plus you can go "back" and "forward" with simple button clicks.

3) A Standing Desk

A standing desk seems kind of odd but sitting at a desk for long periods of time carries several health risks like higher blood pressure. Plus sitting also places a fat deposit in the stomach area if sitting too long. I'd reccomend one that can intercahnge from a sitting to standing position. That way when you are tired of standing, you can revert back to the sitting position, and vice versal.
